A shooting in Birmingham’s Digbeth area has triggered a police investigation after a 23-year-old man was reportedly shot following a disturbance outside a busy nightclub.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday, August 24, 2026, after trouble was reported at Luna Springs in Digbeth. Police were called shortly before 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, following reports of a disturbance. The violence subsequently spilled onto the street, where a firearm was discharged.

What Happened in Digbeth?

According to reports, a disturbance began at the nightclub before continuing outside the venue.

A 23-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital for treatment. Details concerning the extent of his injuries have not been fully disclosed.

A significant police presence was established around Bromley Street, which leads toward Hack Street, as officers secured the area and began examining what happened.

Police Investigation Underway

Detectives are now working to establish the circumstances that led to the shooting and identify those responsible.

The investigation is expected to include examination of CCTV footage, witness accounts and forensic evidence gathered from the scene.

Three people have reportedly been arrested in connection with the incident, although enquiries remain ongoing.

Luna Springs and Previous Violence Concerns

The latest shooting comes after previous incidents at the Digbeth venue. Luna Springs had its licence suspended earlier in 2026 following a separate stabbing incident, according to local reporting.

In May, West Midlands Police investigated an incident at a Digbeth venue on Lower Trinity Street in which two men were stabbed. Both victims were taken to hospital, and their injuries were initially described as not life-threatening.

The latest shooting is therefore likely to renew questions about security and public safety around nightlife venues in the Digbeth area.

Road Closures and Public Safety

Police activity has resulted in temporary restrictions around the incident scene, with Bromley Street among the roads affected.

Residents, visitors and motorists are being advised to avoid the immediate area while officers continue their investigation and forensic work.

What Remains Unknown

Investigators have yet to establish publicly why the disturbance began, what led to the shooting or whether the people involved knew one another.

The victim’s identity has also not been released.

Further information is expected as West Midlands Police continue their enquiries.
